Still Crazy After All These Years

“You don’t love someone because they are perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they are not.”

Jodi Picoult

This weekend marked our 6th wedding anniversary, and in tribute to us I’ve compiled a photo essay of our family. It’s so strange to look back at the beginning of our journey together, and see how far we’ve come, both geographically, emotionally and spiritually. We’re still crazy about each other (sometimes we drive one another just plain crazy!) and we’re committed to the work that comes along with all the shiny parts.

Nothing stretches our humanness more than LOVE. Those closest to us see us at not only our best, but also at our worst. One can easily start to notice only the flaws in their partner, and even forget why they fell in love in the first place. A family (or couple) requires a community of supporters to nurture them; To take them into their arms, hold them and love them through the parts that hurt. Because growing pains are inevitable. By sharing our humanness and flaws with those around us, we grant one another permission to try and fail and yet have the strength and humor to try again. We are so grateful to our community (from Argentina to Alaska and Thailand!) for the wisdom, wit and grace you have granted us when have needed it most. We couldn’t have made it this far without you.

Nobody makes me as elated, happy, sad or crazy as this man. Love you Diego. Always and forever.

And for all these picture perfect moments, there are a handful of moments we could have walked away. Loving someone is a choice we make every single day. It’s  not always easy, that’s for certain.

When you have it, hold close friends!

With love and gratitude,
